The Point Boss Denies Reports of NIA Visit

Mr. Pap Saine, co-proprietor and Managing Editor of The Point newspaper, refuted online reports by Senegambianews.com and Freedom newspaper that National Intelligence Agency (NIA) officials recently visited The Point and questioned some of the staff suspected of being informers or contributors to Freedom newspaper.

In an email sent to the editor of Senegambianews.com Mr.Saine refuted categorically such reports, saying that it is baseless and unfounded.

The Point boss told the editor of Senegambianews to always verify with him or his deputy, Mr Ebrima Sawaneh, whenever they get information about The Point.

According to Mr. Saine, journalists should always double-check their facts instead of being in a haste to report on issues without speaking to concerned people.

He concluded by reassuring concerned readers, most especially those who have been calling from abroad, that the report by Senegambianews.com and Freedom newspaper about NIA’s visit to The Point was not based on fact.
