The  Catholic Mission, in a bid to foster understanding on self-reliance, Catholic churches are striving hard to put things together as the biggest Catholic church now puts things together for that purpose.

The St. Therese’s Catholic Church at their last parish council meeting agreed on several points to be put forward at the Diocesan Assembly from March 30, to April 4.

Anthony Mendy, the parish council chairman, said it was necessary to let parishioners know about what was to come. He said it should be made known since a self-reliant church meant their total involvement and this was the theme of the Assembly. According to Tony Mendy, they had themes shared among groups that were discussed among them and were able to come up with suggestions. The action, according to Tony Mendy, calls for more actions for parish support. “We have a five year strategic plan that would enable the church become strong in the hands of the parishioners,” he said.

According to the chairman of the Finance committee, Richard Joe Mendy, they suggested that the parish raises money from the proceeds from hall rentals, and prices were suggested for renting the hall. He said there was further need to inculcate the communication committee because they had suggested for the improvement of the parish newsletter to make it more formidable. “Many adverts could be displayed and paid for. This would bring us income and the communication would not be left out. We do not give 10% of our salaries; we need to improve on these things,” Richard Mendy said. “The parish among other parishes is bent on preparing well for the Diocesan Assembly.” Pierre Mendy said.
