Beakanyang Kafo, a community-based organization operating in the Upper River Region, recently opened a new office in the village of Barrow Kunda in Wuli West District.
Speaking on the grand official opening ceremony, Mr Kukulay Barrow a representative of the village Alkalo applauded the organization for contributing to the development of the village. He called on the people in the area to support the organization for its sustainability.
Mr Nfamara Jawneh, Secretary General and Orphans Care Coordinator of Beakanyang expressed delight to preside over the official opening ceremony of Beakanyang new office.
He described the day as another milestone in the history of our organization in its quest to empower the less privileged people of the society.
He said that the opening of new office would give the opportunity to the communities to have first hand information on the operations of Beakanyang on a regular basis. It would also serve as a bureau for our members to meet and discuss the development of the organization. The office shall be the venue for all Beakanyang meetings, file storage, receiving visitors, storing materials and a working ground for the kafo executive and volunteers.
He thanked the community of Barrow for providing them with a space. “At Beakanyang we are committed to promoting education, health and agriculture in not only in Barrow Kunda but also in the entire region.” He said.
Alkali Kebbeh Assistant secretary of the organization recalled the numerous developments registered by the organization over the years.
Mrs. Matta Fatty a lady president of the village and Yahya Sumareh board chairman also spoke at the occasion.
