The 2007 Yundum nawettan tournament kicked off last Friday at the village football field with ten teams lining up for the trophy.

The opening game opposed Sonko Jileng and Harlem.

The game attracted thousands of fans from Yundum and surrounding villages.

Sonko Jileng netted the first goal in the 18th minute through Kebba Jallow. Harlem mounted pressure on Sonko Jileng but could not level the scores.

In the second game on Sunday, Man United drew goalless with New Town. In a short interview, the President of Yundum Sports Committee, Omar Njie said the main objective of the tournament is to Forster unity among the youths in Yundum and Sinchu Alagie. He revealed that the market women are sponsoring the tournament.
