Ebrima Jallow, a Guinean resident in Latrikunda Sabiji, has on Friday paid a heavy price for driving a motor vehicle when he knew fully well that the vehicle did not fulfill its road tax obligations accidents in the country.

In handing down the judgment, magistrate Moses Richards expressed the need for tougher measures to effectively deal with road accidents.

He added that the greater public is now weary about the up-ward spiral in the number of road accidents in the country.
He therefore sentenced Jallow to a 30 months’ imprisonment or an option of D5, 500. Besides, he would serve another mandatory six months’ jail term at Janjanbureh Prison in Central River Region and would be deported upon completion of his jail term.
