Gambia in International Volleyball Friendly Tourney

Two Volleyball teams from The Gambia namely Interior and Gorillas, league champions of the National Volleyball championship in 2006 / 07 will be representing the country at an international Volleyball friendly tournament in Ziguinchor, Casamance.

Organised by the Ziguinchor Volleyball clubs, the friendly tournament will bring together countries like Egypt and Tunisia from the Northern part of the continent and Mali, Guinea Bissau, Senegal and The Gambia from the West African Sub-region. A team from France will also take part.

Speaking in an interview with Pointsports, Alhagie Ceesay team manager of Gorillas cum assistant coach of the team, said the preparation for the team’s participation is in high gear.

He said The Gambia’s team participation at the tournament is sponsored by Kairaba Pharmaceuticals Limited. He added that the team would leave Banjul on Wednesday December 26, 2007 and play their first game the following day during the opening of the tournament.

Ceesay also commended Kairaba Pharmaceuticals for their support to the team and urged other stakeholders to venture into helping other sporting disciplines.

He also went on to commend Mr Cassa Tall, President of The Gambia Volleyball Association for his technical support.
