As part of their drive to turn the country into an International Sports Center, the Gambia Government have approved the establishment of the Zone II volleyball Secretariat in the Gambia.
That was revealed by the Executive Secretary of the National Sports Council [NSC] Mr. Donald Sock.
Speaking in an interview with Pointsport yesterday, Mr. Sock revealed that the Gambia has been selected to host the Zone II Volleyball Secretariat and the Government have already given their approval for setting up of the sub-regional body in the country.
Mr Sock revealed that the Confederation of African Volleyball Association [CAVA] would provide founding for the office upkeep and other equipment such as telephone, fax, internet facilities and the payment of the permanent secretary in the office.
“With that the cost on Government would be minimal,” Mr. Sock pointed out.
He added that the Government, the National Sports Council and the Gambia Volleyball Association are working together to ensure that the secretariat is set before the end of February 2007.
