A two-member Commonwealth delegation is currently on a visit to The Gambia, competent sources disclosed to this paper. The delegation has been in the country since last Sunday.
According to our sources, the delegation consisting of Mrs. Adefuye, Special Adviser on Africa, and Sabhita K. Raju, Good Offices Section of the Political Affairs Division, will hold discussions with the Gambia government concerning technical assistance as well as prospects for future assistance to The Gambia.
The delegation is also expected to pay a courtesy call on President Yahya Jammeh to brief him on the preparation for the forthcoming heads of government meeting to be held in Campala, Uganda, in late November this year.
The delegation, our sources went on, has already met with some Secretaries of State, including the new Foreign Affairs Secretary of State. The delegation is also to meet political parties, the media, Commonwealth High Commissioner in The Gambia and international partners. The delegation is expected to leave the country on Saturday.
