Mr Bakary Terema Dahaba, director of the GFA Centre for Excellence and the contact person for the Fifa artificial turf project in The Gambia, left Banjul on Tuesday, November 26, to attend a tailor-made Fifa training programme on artificial turf management in Abidjan, Cote de I’voire.
Mr Dahaba was accompanied to the former French colony by Amadou Jallow, a member of the Brikama Youth and Sports Committee. The Gambian duo will join scores of participants from other member states for the training course.
The artificial turf project is FIFA’s latest development package for its member associations in a bid to make the game (football) more accessible and affordable to people. The first ever-artificial turf pitch for The Gambia is currently under construction at Brikama, a town known for its rich culture and religious following of football.
