The ongoing criminal case involving Dodou Kassa Jatta and seven others could not proceed in court yesterday as the prosecution witness was said to be indisposed.
The police prosecutor, Inspector Bojang, informed the court that his last witness, Officer Commanding Kebba Sawaneh, of the Fraud Squad Unit of the Police Force is down with malaria and therefore would like to apply for a short adjournment. This application was granted by the presiding magistrate, Magistrate Mbacke of Kanifing Magistrate Court, as the defence counsel for the accused persons, Lamin Camara did not object to the prosecution application for an adjournment.
It could be noted that Mr. Jatta and his co-accused are standing trial on charges of prohibition of conduct conducive to the breach of peace, obstructing a police officer while in due execution of his duties and threatening violence. All of the accused pleaded not guilty to the three count charges preffered against them.
