Sheikh Tijan Njie and Ousman Sighateh were on Wednesday arraigned before the Bundung Magistrate’s Court, presided over by Magistrate Amina Saho Ceesay on charges of house-breaking, stealing and threatening with violence.
All counts are contrary to section 281 (1) 256 (b) and 84 of the Criminal Code of The Gambia.
According to the particulars of the offence, on February 12, 2007 at Brufut village, Kombo North, Sheikh Tijan Njie and Ousman Sighateh broke into the dwelling house of one Zielesch Joachim, through the window and committed felony therein.
Count Two further indicated that on the same date and time in Brufut, they jointly stole silver watch, Nokia phone, shoes, LG DVD player and cash, valuing D46050, being a property of one Mr. Zielesch Joachim.
Count Three stated that Sheikh Tijan Njie on the same date, place and time threatened the life of Mr Zielesch Joachim with a cutlass.
When the charge sheet was read to them, the duo pleaded not guilty to the charges preferred against them. However, they were granted a court bail in the sum of 50,000, with two Gambian sureties each.
