Col Lang Tombong Tamba, First Vice President of The Gambia Football Association has called on the general public to come and support the domestic league, just like national teams. He said only good league will pave way for good national teams.

Col Tamba made these remarks during an interview with Sports File’s anchorman, Peter Gomez on Monday.

He said: “Let the public come and support the domestic league because it is the spring board for our national teams. We all talk about the Under 17, Under 20 and other national teams because of the league”.

Col Tamba said Gambian football is progressing as evident in the GPA and Hawks match in the weekend Super Cup final which unarguably showcased promising talents.

Mr Musa Njie, Chairman of the GFA Technical Committee who doubles as Manager of Independence Stadium & Friendship Hotel, shares the same view with Col Tamba. According to Mr Njie, Gambian sports enthusiasts should come and patronise their local teams. He said the poor turn-out during the weekend Super Cup final between Ports Authority and Hawks was very discouraging, adding that Super Cup final is a big event in any footballing nation.
