La Higverita School in Spain has built a nursery school in Lamin called Lamin Nursery School that has already employed full-time teachers.
Javier Blanco, the liaison of the project, who shuttles between Spain and The Gambia, said the construction of the school was prompted by their children in Spain, who are desirous to help children in Africa.
According to Blanco, the school contains three classroom blocks with all other necessary facilities in place.
Disclosing plans for the new school, Blanco said they intend to expand the school in the near future.
He continued: “The headmaster of Lamin Nursery will go to Spain on an exchange visit and staff and students of our school in Las Palmas will come soon.
The boys are working assiduously to come on their visit.”
He said they make pictures and rainbows as a sign of peace and sell their products to hotels.
Meanwhile, Blanco said they had got some children at St Therese’s Lower Basic School whom they sent assorted items for.
He added: “Our children saw on TV how Africans tried to enter Spain. They decided to help Gambian children in that light. They raise their own money and advocate for the needs of their friends.”
The children, he said, did not give money but materials.
