At least 54 companies have lined- up for the 17th edition of May Day Sport, scheduled to take place on Tuesday, May 1st 2007.

The event is an annual event, organised by The Gambia National Olympic Committee (GNOC). Speaking to Observer Sports yesterday, Modou Demba, Development Officer (GNOC), who doubles as one of the Coordinators of the event, expressed hope that this year’s event will be best in the history of May Day Sport, as it is completely sponsored by Samsung Company and Quantum Digital.

“The event for this year will be best so far in the history of the game. Since it is sponsored by Samsung Company, representatives from its headquarter in South Korea are expected to grace the occasion, as well as its head for Africa region. Representatives from Nigerian commonwealth games bidding are also expected to grace this year’s event,” he said

According to Demba, 10 events will be featured and the winners of all the events will receive a giant trophy, while the best fashion team and the most discipline team will receive trophies.

“Since May Day Sport is all about promoting relationship and cooperation among companies in The Gambia, participating companies should comport themselves and do their best to ensure that the event is successful,” he concluded.
