In their drive to put back Gambia’s cricket on the right track, the Gambia Cricket Association would be hosting an international cricket championship called West- North Africa Cricket Championship.
According to a press release from the Gambia Cricket Association, the said tournament would be held in Banjul from 11 to 18 May 2007.
The release added that the tournament would be the first in the sub-region with two Cricket Associations namely Mali and Morocco would be joining the tournament for the first time.
“As you already know we have been holding our traditional Quadrangular Cricket Tournament in West Africa for over twenty years with the following countries: Ghana, Sierra Leone, Nigeria and The Gambia on a rotational basis and with the affiliation of Mali and Morocco to the International Cricket Council, we have decided to invite them to participate in this year’s tournament, bringing the participating countries to six,” the release revealed.
The press release further appealed to Government, companies, private sector and individuals to come to their aid to make the event a big success for the interest of the game in the country.
