Sait Matty players boycott training?

Friday, May 11, 2007

Players of GFA First Division giants Africell/Sait Matty FC are reported to be on a sit-down strike since last Tuesday, May 8, Observer Sports can reveal.

The players have vowed not to resume training until they are paid their full salary that was deducted by the club management.
When contacted by Observer Sports, the captain of the team, Buba Sanneh, neither confirm the story nor deny its veracity.
Head coach, Pa Suwareh Faye maintains there is no problem as far as Sait Matty is concerned.

“I am on training ground and I am not aware of any problem involving Sait Matty,” Coach Faye told Observer Sports yesterday.
However, a player of the team who preferred anonymity confirmed they have boycotted training since Tuesday because their last month salaries were deducted.

“We vow not to resume training until we are paid our full salary,” the player said.
He, however, said they may change their mind and resume training on Monday, if a compromise can be reached between the players involved and the club management.
Africell/Sait Matty who got promoted to the First Division last season, lie at the relegation zone, having secured only seven points from nine games.
