Joe Gomez Makes Premature Return

Tuesday, May 15, 2007

Joseph Gomez alias Nding, goalkeeper of Wallidan FC and the Gambia National  U-20, returned home on Saturday from Paris Saint Germain (PSG) in France where he was expected to undergo a two week training trials with French Division one top team.

According to Kabba Ceesay, FIFA Licensed Players Agent, Joe Gomez’s premature return is due to an injury he sustained during training with the first team of Paris Saint Germain last Wednesday.

Mr. Ceesay revealed that Joe Gomez had very good three day training on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday before the unfortunate situation occurred.

“PSG’s officials were very impressed by his performance and they have said a lot of good things about Joseph Gomez,” he said.

Dilating on the future of Joe Gomez with PSG, Kabba Ceesay said” the goalkeeper trainer of PSG, Eric Laruwa, did praise  Joe Gomez  for his talent as a lad and reassure  me that they will be in Canada looking  for only one  word  from him, Consistency,”.

“Joe will be among the best in the World if i work with him for just six months,” goalkeeper trainer Eric Laruwa told Kabba Ceesay.

It could be recalled that Joe Gomez, who was voted the best goalkeeper of the 15th African Youth Championship held in Congo Brazzaville earlier this year, left Banjul on Sunday May 6th, 2007 for a two week trials with PSG.

He was spotted by Joel Bats, former French goalkeeper alongside Senegalese former international player, Boubacar Sarr alias Locotte during the Congo Championship.
