King Colley and Donald Sock disagree

Lamin King Colley, President of the Brikama Youth and Sports Association (BYSA) who doubles as the Chairman of Western Region Divisional Sports Committee was involved in a bitter feud with the Executive Secretary of the National Sports Council, Mr. Donald Sock about what the latter described as one man wearing two caps.

King Colley came under attack during the last council session over the weekend when Mr. Sock claimed Colley should not serve as the President of the Brikama Youth and Sports Association and Chairman of Western Region Sports Committee simultaneously. The assertion did not go well with King Colley who felt he was being eye-marked for no just cause.
“I am not the only person holding dual positions. The President of the Serrekunda East Sports Committee is also the Chairman of the KMC Divisional Sports Committee and the same thing goes for the President of the Banjul Sports Committee. There is no clause in the Sports Council Act that deters one from running a dual responsibility”, King Colley, a Police Officer-cum-sports administrator was quoted as saying.

When contacted last night about his stance on the matter, King Colley, who also serves as manager for The Gambia’s U-20 team, declined to comment. He however, hinted that he will remain steadfast in his bid to promote sports in not only the Western Region but The Gambia as whole.
