Wallidan keeper in PSG trial

Tuesday, May 8, 2007

Wallidan and Gambia U-20 goalkeeper, Joseph Gomez, is expected to leave on Sunday, May 6, for France where he will undergo a two-week trial with the France First Division giants, Paris Saint German (PSG), Kabba Ceesay, and FIFA Licensed Players Agent told the Observer.

Mr. Ceesay said goalkeeper Gomez was spotted by Joel Bats, former France goalkeeper, alongside one agent Baboucarr Sarr during the African Youth Championships finals held in Congo where keeper Gomez was also voted the most outstanding goalkeeper of the tournament.

Ceesay commended Wallidan Football Club, more specially Alhagi OB Conateh, and the founding father of the club, for their professionalism in handling issues surrounding the player’s trial.
This new development in keeper Gomez’s career came barely a few months after his purported trip to the Italian giants, AS Roma and Bologna got aborted owing to his commitment to a Norwegian side.

If successful, Gomez will be the first-ever Gambian player to ply his route in relatively high-rated French League season.
Paris Saint German, who have two French league titles under their belt, have also won the French Cup title seven times the latest being in the 2006 season. Numerous world lass players have also passed through the renowned club, notably among were the Brazil and Barcelona mesmeric forwarder, Ronaldinho, George Weah of Liberia and the all-time crafted Nigerian football hero, Austin Jay Jay Okocha.
