Three teams namely Real De Banjul, Wallidan and GPA would today and tomorrow battle for the 2006/2007 GFA first division league title when they line up in the week seventeen encounters.
All three teams have the chance of winning the league title if they manage to claim all points in their remaining matches.
Real De Banjul, the current leaders with 31 points and have two matches to play against GPA and Bakau United while Wallidan FC, second with 30 points, would be taking on Hawks and Armed Forces in their last two outings.
GPA, third with 29 points, have the chance of retaining the league title if they win all their three remaining matches what ever the results of Real and Wallidan would be.
GPA’s remaining games are against Real De Banjul, Gamtel and Bakau United.
Meanwhile the league would enter week seventeen today with three matches on the fixtures.
The most awaited game in today’s fixtures would oppose two of the teams that are battling for the title.
The said game would oppose Real De Banjul and Gambia Ports Authority (GPA) at the Independence Stadium in Bakau.
A victory for either team would have a great impact on the final standings of the league.
The second game today would be an all Bakau affair, as Steve Biko FC would lock horns with Africell/ Sait Matty FC at the Serekunda West Mini Stadium.
In the last game of the day, Armed Forces would take on Seaview FC at the Serekunda East Min Stadium.
The week seventeen would continue tomorrow Thursday June 14th, 2007 with Wallidan facing Hawks at the Independence Stadium while Bakau United play Gamtel at the Serekunda East Mini Stadium.
