Pirang are Kombo East champions

Pirang Football Club on Sunday, defeated Basori to emerge as the champions of the Kombo East inter-village football tournament, organised by the Christian Children Fund, in collaboration with the Kombo East Youth and CHildren.

The two sides fought a tooth-an-nail goalless full-time match before Pirang prevailed in a post-match spot-kick. As winners, Pirang walked away with a giant trophy and cash prize of D13,000, whilst first runners up, Basori received a cash prize of D9000.

Giboro Kuta, who earlier beat Kuloro FC 2-1 to grasp the third spot, consoled themselves with D5,000. The Most Discipline Team award, which commanded a consolidation prize of prize D2000, went to Faraba Kairaba.

Sunday’s final was graced by scores of football enthusiasts including Mr. Momodou Jallow, National Assembly Member of Kombo East.

In a similar development, Dembo Sanneh FC of Brikama, mauled Penyem 2-1 in a keenly- contested final on the same day to emerge as heroes of Kombo Central.

Dembo Sanneh FC received a giant trophy and cash prize of D6,000 as winners, whilst Penyem went home D4,000 richer, as runners-up.
