Tuesday, July 17, 2007

Gambian Pierre Jallow has continued his dominating season with another outstanding month of games that saw the Hume City Bronco’s with four wins and Jallow the much anticipated Championship Men Player of the Month for June 2007.

Jallow’s month included an average of 26 points per game that sees him second in the season’s league leaders. Combined with a June shooting percentage of 56% from the field, 58% from the three point line and 78% from the free throw line, and an average of 13 rebounds per game, Jallow has been the front runner for the Bronco’s for June, all but ensuring them a place in the finals.

When notified of his award, Jallow said that he was happy with the personal accomplishment, but was quick to state that the team always comes first.
"The season has been great so far, mostly because I have been playing alongside very seasoned and good players who compliment my game very well," Jallow said.

Jallow said that he tries hard to juggle his performance in relation to the team’s winning percentage, and that the award will see him continue to strive harder, as he will now be a bigger target for opposition teams.
"Basketball is a team sport and almost all the personal accolades are a direct representation of the team. With that in mind, I want to say a huge thank you to all my team mates. I couldn’t have asked for a better group of guys," he said.

Other contender’s this month included Simon Conn (Sandringham), Darryl Corletto (Melbourne), Timothy Gainey (Warrnambool) and Lester Strong (Warrnambool).
