4 Gambian coaches eye Sweden trip

Four coaches from the Gambia Football Coaches Association will leave Banjul on Thursday, August 30, for Sweden for a month-long exchange visit to their own in the Scandinavian country, reports reaching Observer Sports have revealed.

The quartet are the President of the coaches association and Head Coach of Africell-Sait Matty, Pa Suwareh Faye, the Secretary-General, Ebou Faye, the Treasure  and Head Coach of Armed Forces, Pasamba Mbenga and Mariama Sowe, head coach of Interior female team.

Speaking to Observer Sports, Pa Suwareh Faye, said their relations with the Swedish counterparts started with the assistance of the erstwhile GFA Second Vice President, Mr. Ebou Ndure and one Pa Musa Fofana, a former Gambian international footballer.

He said the twinning programme will undisputedly help to develop Gambian football coaches as far as exposure is concerned.

Faye added that during the visit, they and their counterparts will engage in various exercises, aimed at enhancing the technical and tactical skills of the participants with the view of improving the  performance, as well as fostering closer relationships between the coaches of the two countries.

“The visit will create a clear understanding on how football is structured in both countries and provide platform for all of us to strive for a better improvement in the area of coaching so as to meet the needs of the societies in which we live.”
