Gambia Invited to Six-Nation Cricket Tourney in Lagos

The Secretary of the Nigeria Cricket Federation (NCF), Mr. Dans Adokiye, has disclosed to Football Digest that Nigeria will host the African regional cricket championship in April 2008 and has invited six countries to the event.

He told Football Digest on Friday that the countries invited include Sierra-Leone, Gambia, Ghana, Morocco, Cameroon and the hosts, Nigeria.

He said that arrangements were in top gear for the tournament, which will be hosted in Lagos.

The defending champions, Nigeria, won the last tournament in Banjul, Gambia.

“We have sent the invitations to the participating countries to formally invite them as the host country,’’ he said.

He said that three venues for the tournament are the University of Lagos, MKO Stadium, Abeokuta, and the Tafawa Balewa Square Cricket Ovaal in Lagos.
