GFA National League Enters Week 4

Monday, March 10, 2008

The 2008 Gambia Football Association national league will play its week four fixtures this weekend, after a successful week 3; the weekend encounters will feature very interesting games with the league leaders Samger facing the Ferry Boys GPA. The national league has so far witnessed lot of interesting games with 11 games played and 12 goals scored so far in week 3 fixtures.

Preview of week 4 fixture

Samger take on GPA

This game is the most awaited match so far as the Academy Boys will be looking to keep their 100% record. They will be looking to maintain their lead at top of the table with 12points. It would be a surprise if the Academy Boys collected the three points against the Ferry Boys after they beat the 2007 league champions Real de Banjul Bakau united, and Armed Forces in the first round each 1-0 and have not conceded any goals so far.

GPA, who were playing their first game of the league this year at the time of going to press, will be looking forward to showing their fans that they are still title challengers despite been humiliated in the CAF confederation cup in Ivory Coast. They are still the Ferry Boys and will bounce back. This game will be play at the Independence Stadium in Bakau on Sunday 9th March 2008 at 4 .30pm

Interior take on Armed Forces what an interesting game

The two security teams will battle it out. This game we expected a physical football and a big battle in the midfield of play the two teams have some of the youngest midfield players in the league and we will expect a good game in the 90 minute of play.

Interior, who drew their three games with Hawks, Wallidan, and Gamtel, will be looking to keep their spirit win or draw to keep themselves in the first division this season.

The green boys who won there first game against Seaview and lost to Samger by 1-0 in their second game, the Armed boys were battling against the red devils of Hawks at the time of going to press but we will witness a good competitive game with lot of ball possession in midfield on Sunday.

Real take on Hawks.

The two giant teams are still to show their best in this year’s league so far. With the red devils of Hawks yet to win a game, at the time of writing this preview they were playing their third game with Armed forces, the city boys of Real de Banjul will be looking to regain their form after they were beaten by the academy boys 1-0, Real drew and won there second game against Africell Saitmatty.

Gamtel Wallidan,

The telecommunication boys must be focused on this game, as the blue boys are hungry for victory. It will not be an easy game at all as Gamtel are also in good shape without conceding a defeat but were also playing at the time of going to press. The blue boys drew with Interior 1-1 in their second game but also were playing there third game in week 3 at the time of going to press.

Steve Biko take on Africell the Bakau derby

Another interesting game will be between the two Bakau giants. When we saw Steve Biko played Wallidan in the opening game of the league many would agree with me that this year’s league would not be an easy league at all, as there is no small team or under dog team. We saw beautiful football being played by both teams and that’s what we expect to see in our national league. The most important thing that Biko needs to work on is scoring. They play good football but lack of finishing touch up front

Africell Sait Mattys win against Seaview will give them the courage and confident in this game but they should be very careful with the samba football that the Bakau giant play.

Bakau United and Sea View

The game is expected to be tough one as Sea View are yet to show themselves in the league having lost 3 games in a row. Bakau United are not in three best teams in the league.
