Tranmere Rover manager Ronnie Moore praised winger Edrissa Sonko after the Gambian scored twice in the 2-2 draw at League One rivals Hereford on Boxing Day.
notched two goals in the Boxing Day fixture at Hereford to become Rovers’ leading goal scorer this season with six strikes. "Edrissa Sonko has got the pace and a clinical finish and we saw that side of him," Moore was quoted saying. "We have to keep pressing on, but it is a point away from home. I would have liked all three and there is no doubt about that.
"We didn't come to defend, we played a 4-4-2 having three strikers missing. "It's a bit hard with three strikers missing to try to change it." Ronnie Moore had asked Sonko for “more of the same” as eight-place Tranmere were taking take on Sonko’s former club, Walsall, at Prenton Park last evening. Moore reflected that Tranmere’s defensive strength on the road became a weakness in an incident-packed encounter with Hereford on Boxing Day .
Moore said: “It is disappointing to go in front twice and not hold on for a victory, but some of our defending was poor. “Hereford’s second equaliser was very disappointing. We had a number of opportunities to clear the ball. “But we’ve still come away with a point and we were positive in the way we went into the game with a 4-4-2 formation.”
