Volleyball Knockout Tourney In the Offing

Thursday, November 20, 2008

The protracted 2008 volleyball knockout championship is finally set for the 21stof November 2008. The month-long tourney will host all the matches at The Gambia Senior Secondary School except the final which will be played at the Manneh Sillah Memorial lawn in Banjul.

This final, as usual, will be the last volleyball competition on the annual volleyball calendar. Jeshwang, who won the 2008 league in an extravagant style with 21 points, won the league, which precluded the knockout.

According to the lofty president of The Gambia Volleyball Association, Mr. Musa Cassa Taal, the volleyball knockout championship is delayed because of financial constraints.

However Mr. Taal was quick to add that, the tournament and Naconf have nothing to relate. But GVBA only provides the necessary technical back up to the volleyball team of Naconf. Moreover it will be recalled that the GVBA recently ended a referees course.
