Gambian International Dawda Bah, who captained the Scorpions in their first international friendly against the Leone Stars of Sierra Leone, has lauded the Gambia Football Association and Africell for staging the friendly.
He said this is a clear indication of the FA’s intention and readiness to ensure that The Gambia will make it in the 2010 World and African Cup of Nation qualifiers next year.

Captain Dawda Bah who plays for HJK Helsinki in the Finnish first division made these remarks in a pre match interview at the Paradise Suites Hotel.
“Gambia is full of young talented players and we have all that it takes to qualify but we need more support from all Gambians,” he said.

Bah highlighted the need for the organisation of more friendly matches, which will give them the necessary preparation for the qualifiers campaign.
He seized the opportunity to apologize to all Gambians for Scorpions failure to Qualify for the African cup of Nations in Ghana adding that they will ensure that they will not register any defeat.
He called on all Gambians to remain calm and be hospitable during the qualifiers to avoid being fined for misbehaving.

Ebrima Sohna, a Gambian international plying his trade in Norway with first Division side Sandefjord, also expressed confidence that The Gambia can make it in the qualifiers.
He said, “ there are big chances in the senior national team and the competition is very high among players which is a step in the right direction”.
Sohna, who put Gambia ahead of Sierra Leone by registering Gambia’s second goal in the international friendly last weekend, also spoke of the need for more friendly matches which can boost up their qualifying campaign.
