Ports Authority name new coach

Tuesday, December 4, 2007
The GFA First Division giants, Gambia Ports Authority, have named Ebrima Cham commonly known as Lukeh, as the new head coach of the Ferry Boys, Observer Sports has gathered.

Cham, former national and Real de Banjul player, replaced coach Alagie Sarr whose deal with the dethroned league champions expired recently.

Coach Ebrima Cham, who was last season sacked as Ham Ham FC head coach after a poor run of form, is reported to have bagged a 2-year deal with the Banjul-based club who finished at fourth position in last year’s First Division league table.

The out-going and former national team coach, Alagie Sarr, joined Gambia Ports Authority in 2006 season from Wallidan FC. He guided Ports Authority to clinch the league title in the same season, before leading them to the CAF Club Champions’ League, where they dropped out at the preliminary stages.

Despite being a relatively poor record holder with the national teams, Alagie Sarr remains one of, if not the best club coach, Gambia has ever produced. He currently has sixteen major titles under his belt as a divisional team coach.
