The GFA First Division debutants, Sea View United on Thursday beat Wallidan 2-0 in their debut match played at Banjul Mini-stadium. John Gomez scored in each interval to earn Sea View a deserve victory.
However, analysts have it that losing a first match in the league is not strange to the Blue Boys who have always come from behind to snatch the league title.
Sea View were guided to the First Division this season by coach Ebrima Jallow, commonly known as EB but Thursday’s match saw new face in charge of the team that claimed their primary objective is to maintain their place in the First Division and not to win the title.
Elsewhere, Bakau United and Steve Biko fired blanks before their derby match ended up in goalless draw on the same day at Serrekunda West Mini-stadium. Despite the stalemate scoreline, coaches of both sides expressed satisfaction over the performance of their respective teams.
The Week Two matches resume on Sunday, March 18, with four matches at the four various grounds.
