APRC Bakau Candidate Withdraws

As Jammeh Expels two from APRC Mr. Bakary B. Darboe, APRC candidate for the Bakau New Town/Fajara Ward of Bakau Constituency in the Local Government elections of January 24th, has in accordance with section 51 of Decree 78 of 1996, withdrawn his candidature for the said elections, a press release issued by the IEC yesterday afternoon indicates. The Returning Officer for the Kanifing Administrative Area has duly completed, signed and accepted Mr. Darboe’s withdrawal, the release added.
Meanwhile in a news release aired over GRTS last evening President Yahya Jammeh, acting on the powers conferred on him by the APRC constitution, expelled Mr Bakary Darboe of the New Town ward in Bakau and Mrs Yama Njie of Haddington Street in Banjul from the party.
