Students Christian Movement of The Gambia (SCM) recently welcomed their secretary general from Kenya at a ceremony held at SOS Senior Secondary School in Bakoteh.

Madam Kengne Georgina, Secretary General of WSFC, the parent body of SCM, was present at SOS among several Christian students belonging to SCM.

Kengne Georgina stated that young people are leaders in the making and expressed her love for them. She said: “WSFC is out to bring God’s word to university students and other students in all areas. It is difficult to reach out to areas at war, with poverty and AIDS.”

She spoke about the relative peace in The Gambia and expressed joy in seeing Muslims and Christians living in an amicable manner.

“We will work together to see the Kingdom of God work with us on earth,” she added.

Mr. Ben Roberts, a senior friend of SCM-The Gambia, said he hope their senior-friend role would be defined.

He praised the youths’ courage in always coming together. He did not also forget to praise Mrs. Juliana Johnson for enabling him to do his best and to become a dedicated senior friend. “Her dedication has attracted me to give my time and resources to SCM,” added Mr. Roberts.

He also commended the visiting secretary general for the visit.

“We are appealing for a slice of the cake and you should not forget us in The Gambia; be it leaflets, books and seminars organized for other youths around the world,” he concluded.
