The project is also co-supported by The Gambia, through the Department of Social Welfare.

The Bakoteh Health and Social Centre is meant to improve the living conditions of children and vulnerable families living in and around Bakoteh.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Mr. Lamin Buba Dibba, Executive Director of NGO Affairs said the project is a clear demonstration of government-NGO partnership.

According to him, government collaboration with NGOs is very crucial in the realisation of their development goals.

Mr. Dibba further congratulated the founding members and the technical committee for their dedication.

For his part, Mr. Luigi Negroni of ANPAS, said children who grow up without protection, care and guidance of a family, do not get good nutrition and health care. “The Bakoteh centre is the result of the commitment of many people who believe that we can and must work to change living standards of the vulnerable and disadvantaged families,” Mr. Luigi concluded.
