Senegalese faces murder charges

Sering Sowe, a Senegalese national, on Monday appeared before the Bundung Magistrates’ Court, presided over by Senior Magistrate Amina Saho Ceesay, charged with murder, contrary to section 187 of the Criminal Code, Laws of The Gambia.

According to the particulars of the offence, on April, 27, 2007, at Bakoteh Tipper Garage in the Kanifing Municipality, the accused murdered one Basiru Sow by hitting him with a stick, thereby causing his death.

At that juncture, Magistrate Amina Saho Ceesay ruled that before his plea she would request from the state through the Master of the High Court, under section 24(3) to provide the accused with a legal representation.

Mr. Sowe was then remanded to the State Central Prison (Mile Two) and the case adjourned to July 4. Inspector Bojang stood in for the I.G.P.
