Sources from official circles have disclosed to this paper that Mr. Omar Gibril Sallah popularly known as O.G. Sallah, has been appointed Permanent Secretary of Personnel Management Office (PMO) with effect from today. Mr Sallah will work directly under the office of the president.

Mr. Sallah, a long serving public servant, studied in universities in United Kingdom, Australia, and USA after completing high school education in The Gambia.

He first joined public service in 1967 as Customs and Excise Officer. He thereafter worked at the then Ministry of Foreign Affairs, during which he served in foreign missions in Libya, the UK, Saudi Arabia and UN as a trained diplomat.

From 1994 to 2002 he worked as Permanent Secretary in various ministries including Defence, Office of the Vice President, Ministry of Presidential Affairs, Ministry Fisheries, Forestry, Water Resources, Parks and Wild Life and the Environment. He retired from the civil service in 2002 after having been privileged to attend many international conferences during the course of his career in the civil service. He has ever since 2002 been working as a Consultant until his latest appointment.

Mr. Sallah replaces Mr. Yusupha Dibba who has been redeployed to the Diplomatic Service. Mr. Dibba, acclaimed by many as a guru in civil service administration, served several years as PS in PMO and the Department of State for Communication and Technology.

In another development Mr. Malick Njie, alias Pachah, has been moved to the post of Director of Medical Services, replacing Dr. Mariatou Jallow who is now the Chief Medical Director of RVTH, the post that Dr. Njie held before he was moved to the Department of State for Health and Social Welfare three weeks ago.
