The cemetery is said to contain 203 graves of victims of the Second World War, of which 122 are West Africans, 63 British, 10 Canadians, 2 Australians, 2 New Zealander, 1 Rhodesian, 2 French and 1 Norwegian.

This year’s commemoration was presided over by Her Excellency, Dr. Isatou Njie Saidy, Vice President of the Republic of The Gambia on behalf of the president, Dr. Alhaji Yahya Jammeh.

Accordingly, immediately after their meetings with the president, all the ambassadors reassured their good will to strengthen and reinforce the bilateral cooperation between their respective countries and The Gambia.
