Two in Custody Helping Police in Investigations

Seven Gambians are reported dead and two were reportedly under custody, helping the police in their investigations, dependable sources informed this paper.
Sources say the seven were among a number of Gambian youths, who were attempting to set sail to Spain.
According to official sources, the seven met their death on Friday night at around Radio Syd on board a boat.
Hospital sources told this paper that the seven bodies were evacuated to the Royal Victoria Teaching Hospital in Banjul.

“One of the passengers in the boat struck a match during the journey and as a result, the tank of the boat caught fire. One of the passengers is currently hospitalized with mild burns,” sources say.
Following the news of the boat accident, RVTH was overwhelmed with people scurrying to establish whether their loved ones were involved in the disaster.
The two survivors of the boat mishap, Lamin Fatty and Kawsu Barrow, were, at the time of filing this story, in police custody helping with investigations.

One of the deceased, Mamudou Kassama, was laid to rest yesterday in Bundung. 20-year-old Mamudu was a native of Baddibu Saaba, but resident in Bundung. Still according to sources, the body of Mamadi Drammeh, one of the victims of the boat disaster, was taken home to Kerewan in Baddibu for burial.
Meanwhile, one of the survivors, Lamin Fatty, told GRTS that 50 people were in the boat at the time of the disaster and that 20 were believed to have gone missing whilst 30 had escaped. He added that each of the passengers had paid D25,000 and that the captain of the boat was at large.
