Manslaughter Case Laid to Rest

Monday, December 10, 2007

The trial surrounding the manslaughter in Churchill's Town some five years ago has finally come to an end following a high court ruling in the case on Friday.

Mbye Gaye, a man in his late twenties, was on Friday sent to jail for fifteen years with hard labour after entering a plea of guilty to manslaughter charges. The verdict was handed down by Justice M.M. Yamoa.

It will be recalled that Mbye Gaye was arrested in August of 2002 for causing the death of Alasan Sarr. The death of Alasan was said to have occurred during a fistfight with the convict.
