The Gambia League Champions, The Gambia Ports Authority FC are still optimistic of making another progress in the African Champions League tournament despite facing a Nigerian opposition in the second round phase. GPA will play Nasarawa United of Nigeria, after handing mighty Ashanti Kotoko an early shock exit in the preliminary round.
Reacting to the draw yesterday, Alhagi Mass Axi Gye, the President of Gambia Ports Authority and Second Vice President of Gambia Football Association, told Observer Sports that GPA will have nothing to fear despite facing a side they know little about.
We made some finding and we have realised that Nasarawa United are youthful side peaking in Nigeria. Equally, we also possess a much side with experience, and we believe that we can make a progress if all hands are on deck,” Gye told Observer Sports.
Gye also believe GPA has an added advantage after being the first side to travel to Nigeria. “We will be the first to travel to Nigeria and I see this as an added advantage because we have a taste of them first before facing them in Banjul,” he said.
