Mr. Johnny Gomez, the Vice President of the Gambia Cricket Association, has hailed the Gambian team for making it to semi-final stage of the West African Cricket Tournament that wound up yesterday in Banjul.

In an interview with Pointsport, Mr Gomez said the Gambian representatives gave a good account of themselves, despite the fact that they crashed out in the semi-finals in which they lost to Ghana.
He said he was not surprised by the team’s performance, as they had prepared hard and long for the tournament. But he added that he was unhappy with the low turn out.

According to him, they plan to make cricket a popular sport in schools in the country in the near future.
