Secy Macdouall-Gaye launches New Logo, Other Products of GAMPOST

The Secretary of State for Information, Communication and Technology recently launched the new logo, Western Union Money transfer service and several other products of the Gambia Postal Service Cooperation (GAMPOST).

In her launching statement at the Gampost headquarters in Banjul, Secy Nenneh Macdouall-Gaye said the role of government is to formulate policies and give directives, adding that this would be meaningless without action.

She commended President Yahya Jammeh for transforming the post office to Gampost and encouraged the management of Gampost to keep up the good work.

Mr. Momodou Ceesay, Managing Director of Gampost, in his speech on the occasion, said Gampost seeks among other things to provide quality service to the people as well as introduce products of great relevance to the public.

He also said they would provide maximum security of mails, as the missing and pilferage of mail has become a global problem. He added that they have instituted security units in all their branches for safety of mails received by the post office. 

He said domestic money transfer with minimal fee charged is now available in all their branches across the country. “Our Bakau and Serrekunda branches already have also Internet facilities,” he added.

The General Manager of Trust Bank, Oreme Joiner, has welcomed Gampost to the Western Union family.  In his address on the occasion Mr Joiner said Trust Bank has been the major agent of Western Union in The Gambia.

Mr. Bamba Saho, 1st Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of The Gambia, said Gampost has a unique role to play in contributing to the socio-economic development of the country.

Speaking earlier, Mr. Gibril Chorr, Chairman, Board of Directors of Gampost, said since the current board took over they have been building the human resource base of the cooperation.

A certificate of appreciation was awarded to Secy Macdouall-Gaye for her invaluable service in the transformation of Gampost.
