Omar Ndow, former managing director of the Gambia Telecommunications Company (GAMTEL) is expected to open his defence to charges of disobedience of statutory duties, before the Banjul Magistrates Court on January 10 2008, to prove his innocence on the allegations against him.
Mr Ndow who was recently acquitted on charges of abuse of office on the first count, followed a no case submission made by his counsel Lawyer Sherrif Marrie Tambadou.
When the case was mentioned on Thursday 3 January 2008, Coporal Habibou Sanyang informed the court that the prosecution is not prepared to continue with the case, adding that he was holding brief for Inspector Yahya Touray who was absent in court.
He therefore, applied for the court to grant him an adjournment.
However, despite the defence’s readiness to open its case, they did not object to the application made by the prosecution.
