Clearing Agent Acquitted and Discharged

Tuesday, January 8, 2008

Michael Touray, a clearing agent at the Gambia Ports Authority (GPA), has recently been acquitted and discharged by senior Magistrate Mboto of the Banjul Magistrates Court.

Mr. Touray was standing trial for the offence of obtaining money by false pretences contrary to the laws of The Gambia.

In delivering her judgement Magistrate Mboto stated that the prosecution had failed in their case to prove, beyond all reasonable doubt, the guilt of the accused and therefore the court must acquit and discharge Mr. Michael Touray for the alleged offence.

First Class prosecutor Nying represented the IGP at the trial.
