The Taiwanese Ambassador to the Gambia Dr. Patrick Chang yesterday presented a cheque amounting to $7000 to the National Assembly as part of their contribution to the refurbishment of the assembly. Presenting the cheque at the National Assembly building in Banjul, the Taiwanese ambassador to The Gambia expressed his pleasure in making the donation. He described the project as very important.
Taiwanese envoy expressed his pleasure in presenting the cheque while thanking the assembly for their support. He revealed that the President attaches a great important to the rule of law.
For her part, Honorable Fatoumatta Jahumpa Ceesay, Speaker of the National Assembly, thanked Ambassador Chang for the gesture. She assured Ambassador Chang of the National Assembly’s continued support to their cause. She revealed that president Jammeh intends to build a state of art national assembly. She looked forward to closer relationship between the National Assemblies of the two countries.
She describes Ambassador Chang as a good friend of The Gambia.
Majority Leader Hon. Fabakary Tombong Jatta described the gesture as not a surprise. He hailed Taiwan for observing the principle of democracy in South Asia.
Visiting Doctor from Taiwan Dr. David Huang, Minority leader honorable Momodou Sanneh, member of Sandu Hon.Moro Kanaji Jawla and Clark of the house attended the occasion.
