Mr. Lamin Saiba Darboe, the Alkalo of Bansang village in the Central River Region, is reported to be currently in remand at the Janjanbureh prison. The development follows Mr. Darboe’s alleged aiding and abetting of one Mr. Yorro, a reportedly notorious cattle rustler.
According to information reaching these offices over the weekend, Alkalo Saiba Darboe, who was arrested by the police in Bansang, was arraigned before travelling Magistrate Baldeh last Wednesday before being sent to remand together with the said Cattle rustler.
Our sources further stated that Mr. Darboe’s charge sheet states that he allegedly issued the village Alkalo stamp to Mr. Yorro with the intention of affording him safe passage through any security checkpoints, a charge he vehemently denied.
Meanwhile in spite of appeals and efforts to get the Alkalo bailed, Presiding Magistrate Baldeh upheld that the crime is serious enough to see the accused remanded till the next adjournment date of 23rd April, when he is expected to get legal representation.
