A senior figure of the Gambia Police Force, Inspector Kebba Njie, is currently under State custody awaiting trial.

Inspector Njie and one Baboucarr Bah would be now tried by the Brikama High Court in Western Region.

The two men were recently charged with receiving hush money and at a time when they were responsible for law enforcement in the Gunjur constabulary.

According to the facts of the matter, as indicated on the charge-sheet, Njie and Bah in July of this year had conspired to unlawfully receive D10, 000 from one Mustapha Jallow who was suspected of involvement illegal logging. The money was allegedly received so as to prevent Jallow from prosecution.
