Narcotic Assistant Superintendent Give Account Evidence in Cocaine Case

The Police Prosecutor (PW1) Neneh Sowe Jagen, a narcotic Assistant Superintendent who is also in charge of area officer division, on Thursday 6th December 2007 testified at the Brikama Magistrate Court before magistrate Edrissa Mbai in the ongoing cocaine case involving three suspected Accused Amachakou, Oghogor Malachy Chigozy and Samuel Nwaiwa who are all currently standing trial for drug possession, which does not comply with the law of the land.

In her evidence in chief she told the court, that she has recognized the accused person.

She then went on to said that on the 20th July 2007, while she was on duty at the Banjul International Airport, at around 20-21 hours when Airline flight was being checked in. She said on the process, the first accused came and checked in for the Amsterdam. After checking in, he came through the hand luggage then to the boarding hall. She said the accused was suspected of swallowing some suspected cocaine.

She said she ordered Sgt Bakary O. Jatta to detain the accused and also ordered him to go and inform the Airline that this accused is not traveling.

According to their charge sheet which, was read before Senior Magistrate Edrissa Mbai, the accused vehemently denied the charges.

The police prosecutor then decided to call his (PW1) assistant superintendent to give her testimony before the court.
