Martin Peruses Ex-UDP K/East Candidate’s File

Monday, April 16, 2007
Magistrate Assan Martin, who recently stepped into the shoes of Sheriff Tabally, is currently perusing the case file of the former UDP Kombo East candidate and co-accused.

Mr. Lamin R. Darboe, the UDP-sponsored candidate in the Kombo East by-elections, Maimuna Jobarteh, Jerreh Fatty and Buba Darboe have been since undergoing trial at the Brikama Magistrates’ Court on allegation of assault. Their case was however stalled following a hiatus in magistrate Sheriff Tabally’s court. The case has been transferred and would now be heard by magistrate Martin who’s lately transferred to Brikama Magistrates’ Court.

When the case resumed last week, neither the prosecution officer nor the accused were present in court and the case was consequently adjourned to enable the newly-transferred magistrate Martin acquaint himself with the matter.

In another news, one Gibi Bah, formerly a resident of Kafuta in Kombo East, was also before magistrate Martin on allegation of stealing 191 heads of cattle. His case is now set for hearing.
