The Gambia Islamic/Arabic Teachers’ Association (GAITA) recently organized their first-ever congress to discuss issues revolving around the aims and objectives of the association.
The congress was held at the Gambia College auditorium in Brikama.
In his speech at the congress, the Secretary General of GAITA, Mr. Omar A. Bojang, said the association was formed a year ago. He added that GAITA had made and continues to make remarkable gains since its inception on August 17, 2007.
For his part, the President of GAITA, Mr. Saikou Touray, said the main objective of his association is to promote the teaching and acquisition of Islamic knowledge in schools.
Other speakers on the occasion include Mr. Kunkung Jobarteh, DPS at the department of state for basic and secondary education and Isiaka Sanyang of GTU. The vote of thanks was delivered by Lamin S.K. Gassama.
