Gambia’s First Artificial Turf Reaches Completion

The first ever FIFA sponsored Artificial turf for The Gambia, which is currently being constructed in Brikama will soon be rendered ready for football activities.

Seedy MB Kinteh, GFA President, revealed to Pointsports that a surprise visit was made to the FIFA sponsored third goal project in The Gambia.

Seedy MB Kinteh, Vice President and Project coordinator Bakary Terema Dahaba went to the site to see how the work is processing in Brikama.

The FA President said the turf, which is at its final stage, is expected to be completed in two weeks time.

“When completed, the first ever artificial turf will serve as the playing ground for league matches of both first and second division” he said.

He said the senior national team will also used the ground for their training sessions.

He used the opportunity to informed this paper that the senior national team will meet their Mauritanian counterparts on Saturday March 29th at the Independence Stadium in the preliminaries of the first edition of the CAF African Nations Championship, meant to showcase locally based players from around the continent.
